Carrot powder
Everyone knows the myth that carrots are good for vision. And in this case, this food myth is true. Carrots contain a lot of vitamin A and beta-carotene. Both substances are very important for our eyesight. A lack of vitamin A can lead to night blindness and dehydration of the cornea. For this reason, we should always take a sufficient amount of vitamin A and carotenoids.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids. These phytonutrients are mainly found in plant foods (e.g. green vegetables). In terms of eyes, yellow carotenoids are of particular interest. They are the only carotenoids found in the lens and retina.
Blueberry Extract
The blueberry is a real vitamin bomb. It contains a lot of vitamin A and vitamin C and thus provides many important substances for our vision.
In addition, the blueberry contains anthocyanidins, which have an antioxidant effect and stabilize the elasticity of the eye muscles. They protect the walls of the blood vessels from free radicals.
This improves vision at dawn and in the night hours.
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and eye protection are closely related. The body’s lens in the eye is responsible for focusing the image on the retina. It has a 100 times higher concentration of vitamin C than the blood.
Zinc
Zinc helps our eyes to better absorb the vitamin A we need. In addition, the metabolism of the retina does not work without zinc. The retina is a nerve tissue with sensory cells that sits at the back of the eye and converts incoming light into nerve impulses. This creates a contrasting and colourful “image” in the brain. In these processes, visual dye is constantly consumed in the cells and needs to be renewed, which only succeeds with the participation of zinc.
Selenium
The trace element selenium has been shown to be effective in a randomized study in the treatment of mild progressions of endocrine orbitopathy, which causes eye protruding, eye line enlargement and visual impairment.
Calcium
Calcium strengthens the tissue in the eye and stabilizes the lens.
